Wedding Day Timelines

While every wedding day is unique in its own way, you may wonder what is involved in capturing your day when working with videographers and photographers.  Because of this, we thought it would be a great idea to layout what a wedding day timeline might be like for your wedding day through the eyes of your videographer/photographer.

Video/Photo Shots & Timeline

Bridal Prep – Bride/Bridesmaids makeup, dresses, activities, fun things which might be occurring with your bridal party. Bride putting on dress, Mother assist, at times a Dad first look is included here, letter writing (if applicable),sometimes reading and at times small gifts exchange.

Groom Prep – Groom/Groomsmen dress, drinks, toasts, fun activities.  Groom putting on suit, cuff links, watch, shoes, etc.  Many times Grooms father comes in to assist, letter writing (if applicable), sometimes reading and at times small gifts exchanged.

Details – Shots of rings, ear rings, jewelry accessories, flowers, invitations, wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, shoes, etc.

Establishing – These are venue, location, area shots establishing where/when your day was occurring.  Often times incorporates drone, gimbal, photography.

First Look – This can be Dad/Daughter first look and/or Bride/Groom first look.  Can include letter readings at times as well.  Surprise/turnaround style usually.  As well we usually mic the groom to capture potential audio for the surprise time, and at times mic both bride and groom if there is letter reading.

Bridal Party – After a first look, often a bride/groom like to get bridal party group shots out of the way to free more time, reduce pressure of the post ceremony group shots.  This also allows fun private time for the bridal party to relax, enjoy their time, at times have a cocktail and prepare for ceremony.

Ceremony – Usually 2 photographers, and 2 videographers.  Video we usually use a 4 camera setup with 1 camera at back of venue, 1 camera to stage left, 1 camera to stage right, and 1 camera on a gimbal floating around capturing varying perspectives and actions.

Family/Group – A pre-planned list would be established to know who and what groups you would want photos of from the event, and we work to move through these as timely as possible to minimize your stress during this time.  It’s great to have a designated person/planner who assists in organizing and mobilizing the next people up to have their photo taken, and preferably not you as the bride (again, minimizing your stress/need to worry about the process and allowing you to enjoy your day!)

Reception – Usually an entrance process, dinner, toasts (which we capture with mic’s/tapping into DJ setup), cake cutting and shots of those attending.

Dance – First dance, Daddy/Daughter, Mother/Son, wedding party, and fun dance party capture.

Exit – Some have a planned exit with many difference options, and at times leading out to a particular vehicle exit.  This is often optional and depending on your plan, we adjust accordingly how long we need to be available to capture these events.

We hope this is helpful in outlining a little about how your potential wedding day might look from a timeline perspective.  Of course each is unique and we adjust to your wishes of how your day is planned. The most important component is to allow you to naturally enjoy the day while we seamlessly capture it in the background.  After all, these are once in a lifetime memories, captured forever.
