The Importance of a Wedding Film

There is a great debate raging these days when capturing wedding memories--photos or video?  Both are meaningful and important to remembering your special day. However, often video will get pushed aside when a couple asks, “Do we really need a video?”  Well, the answer is yes and no. No, you do not need a wedding video. Any one can take video of your day. However, a wedding film is created to document your wedding in a way that is professional, meaningful, and memorable.

Filmmaking is about telling a story.  It is more that just a straight replay of the wedding day.  It captures mood, personality, perspective, and ties them all together in a meaningful way.  While video can easily be captured on an iPhone by any attendee, a filmmaker will capture your moments and weave them together to tell the story of your day and your love.  A wedding film brings your story to life. It allows you to relive your special moments and see the ones that were happening behind the scenes. Photographs are wonderful ways to capture a single moment in time.  Wedding films put all those moments together to be remembered and reclaimed.

In addition, it offers a new perspective on your day.  The day of the wedding is filled with activity and anticipation for the bride and groom.  The wedding filmmaker will capture all the big moments and the ones happening quietly on the sidelines.  For example, a grandparents face when seeing the bride and groom say their vows or a parent’s happy tears when the officiate pronounces “presenting to you for the first time…”  These memories are priceless and can be captured by the filmmaker.

Wedding films tell your story in a way that will keep you watching in the years to come.  Often it becomes a tradition for couples to watch their wedding film each year on the anniversary.  It takes you back and recaptures the celebration of joining two lives together. As families grow, children love seeing how their parents looked and sounded when they were married.  They are able to witness your love in the vows, speeches, dances, and guests. Seeing your loved ones laughing and celebrating with you is a keepsake that will stand the test of time.

As you face the question of photos or video, we encourage you to consider both.  Photos are an important keepsake. They offer a window into your special day. A wedding film will take you beyond the window and help you experience the day all over again.  It brings your day to life and allows you to recapture the magic of joining two lives together.
